How We Choose What Goes on Our Shelves at Kolla Crispy Point

How We Choose What Goes on Our Shelves at Kolla Crispy Point

Most people see a shelf as storage.
We see it as a promise.

Every product you see at Kolla Crispy Point represents:

A region

A family recipe

A craft

A tradition

So we choose what goes on our shelves very carefully.

Step 1: The Story Behind the Product

Before we taste anything, we ask:

Where is this from?

How long has this recipe existed?

Who makes it and how?

Does it connect to Indian heritage in a meaningful way?

If the story isn’t strong, the product isn’t for us.

Step 2: The Taste Test

Taste is non-negotiable.

We look for:

Clean flavour

No bitterness or aftertaste

Proper roasting, frying or reduction

Balanced sweetness or spice

A product must feel honest, not engineered.

Step 3: Quality of Ingredients

We inspect:

Type of oil used

Quality of grains or spices

Purity of ghee

Freshness and shelf life

Good ingredients create good memories.
Bad ones break trust.

Step 4: Consistency

A product should taste the same every time.
This requires discipline from the maker — not luck.

If the flavour changes often, we don’t continue.

Step 5: Emotional Resonance

Heritage food is emotional.

We ask:

“Will this remind someone of a place, person or moment in their life?”

If the answer is yes, it belongs here.

What You See on Our Shelf Is the Final Result

Behind every jar of hing, every slice of wheat halwa, every packet of mixture is a long chain of decisions, tastings and discussions.

We don’t aim to have the most products.
We aim to have the right products.

Through Kolla Heritage Journal, we will continue to share how we choose, refine and preserve the foods that carry the soul of India.
